Norma Kathleen Blight
(June 6, 1954 – January 13, 2020)

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Norma Kathleen Blight of Rainy River, ON on January 13, 2020.

Norma was born in Emo, ON on June 6, 1954 to Ella Carruthers. She lived her younger years in Barwick, Blackhawk and Emo and attended Fort Frances High School. In 1973 she met the love of her life Weston Blight, and they were married on May 17, 1975.

She spent most of her working years at the Rainy River CIBC and at the Rainy River Drug store. She was a very active member of her community and volunteered on many committees and at many community events. Norma was happiest spending time with her beloved husband Wes and their family and friends; at the lake and in her garden.

Norma will be lovingly remembered by her children Shauna (Andreas) Runesson, Trina Blight (Kyle Langlais); five grandchildren whom she adored, Ella, Freya, and Malin Runesson, and Avery and Cooper Langlais. She is also survived by her siblings Vivian Callaghan, Gerald (Carol) Carruthers, James Carruthers, Mary Carruthers (Lynn Rowley), Fred Carruthers, David Carruthers, Nancy Rivest, Dianne (Russ) Nordstrom, Karen Carruthers (Tom Cimonetti), and Brian (Wanda) Carruthers; her sisters-in-law Forest (John) Armstrong, Elayne Betle, Amber Davidson, Star (Ben) Clarke; her brothers-in-law Jerry Blight, Wayne (Cathy) Blight, Arden Blight, Trevor Blight, Irving (Geraldine) Blight; and innumerable nieces, nephews, and close friends.

She was predeceased by her mother Ella Carruthers, infant sister Susan; her mother- and father-in-law Elizabeth and John Blight; her brothers-in-law David Blight, Don Rivest, Ed
Kivimaki; her sister-in-law Martha Blight; her nephew Christopher Scott, and her special “Uncle Willy” Almers.

A memorial service was held on January 18 at the Rainy River Legion. In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to Northridge Funeral Home, box 89, Emo, Ontario, P0W 1E0 for a memorial garden administered by Weston Blight. (Please make checks payable directly to Weston Blight).
