Barry Keith Hartry of Emo Ontario passed away Monday 16th of December 2019 at La Verendrye Fort Frances hospital. He was 74.

Barry was born on the 10th of September 1945, in Emo, to Ralph Hartry and Alice (Hunter) Hartry. Barry is survived by his widow Christine, several Hartry and Hunter cousins and many nieces/nephews. He was predeceased by his parents – life-long residents of Emo – and his infant sister Joanne.

Barry was married on the 19th May 1973, in Kenora ON. He was educated in Emo public schools, and earned a BSc in Civil Engineering from the University of Manitoba. He worked as a Professional Engineer in Ontario, for the Federal Business Development Bank in Alberta and for CN Rainy River, in addition to running a farm. Barry loved his extended family, close friends, kind neighbors, the solitude of the country and raising beef cattle. He was a quiet, moral and resolute individual - widely informed and well-respected. Barry held well-considered opinions that were usually not offered - but could be extracted in conversation.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Barry’s life will be held in the spring of 2020, with ashes to be interred in Emo at that time. In memoriam charitable donations may be made directly to Canada Heart & Stroke, Canadian Cancer and ALS Canada Societies, or c/o Northridge Funeral Home, P.O. Box 89, Emo ON, P0W 1E0.
