Obituary for Stephanie Markewich
It is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of Stephanie Rose Markewich age 33, who passed on Sunday, August 7, 2022. Stephane arrived into this world on September 20, 1988 born to Doris Leonard and raised by her parents of Steven and Josephine Leonard Markewich of Rainy River First Nations.
Stephanie was also known as Steffie. She loved her children more than anything in this world and would dote on them as any mother would. She loved her plants and flowers and maintained her lawn the best she knew how. Stephanie was a caring, loving and generous person who loved assisting people in any way she could. She would take in people when they had no place to stay and loved catering delicious meals for them.
Stephanie was employed by Manitou Forest Products as a labourer for 5 years who thoroughly enjoyed her position.
Stephanie is survived by her partner Tyler LaBelle, son Gabriel and daughter Scarlett, her brother Jamie Guy Leonard (Shelley Cyr) Zachary Charles Leonard, and Terrilynne Pickard, her Uncle Jim Leonard (Debbie Leonard), Aunties Verna Leonard and Debbie Leonard (Domenico Servallo) all of Rainy river First Nations as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many cousins.
Stephanie was predeceased by her mother, the late Doris Leonard, Josephine Leonard Markewich and her grandparents Daniel and Roseanne Leonard.
A wake will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. at the Gymnasium at Rainy River First Nations. Services will be held on Thursday, August 11, at 10 a.m. Interment will be held at the cemetery up on Manitou Rapids Hill. Reverend Ralph Fluit will be officiating services.
Pall bearers are: Daniel Servello, Mico Servello, Domenico Servello, Jamon Leonard, Steven Leonard and Aaron Bombay.
Honorary Pall Bearers: Alice Cochrane, Danielle Leonard, Charlene Leonard, Tyler Hunter, Janine Copenace and Pamela Major
