Obituary for Ronald Cenerini

Ronald “Ron” Cenerini

Ronald Noel Norbert Cenerini, 79, died suddenly Monday March 13, 2023 at his home in Atikokan ON. Born January 25, 1944 in Treherne Manitoba to Alfred and Cecile Cenerini, eldest of 5 boys.

The family moved to Atikokan in 1951 with him speaking only French, and grew up to be a local celebrity singing in the “Rhythm Rockers” , “Brothers Plus One” and at both of his children’s weddings. A lover of music, Ron was a natural entertainer.

Ron’s career at Steep Rock Mine started in 1966 as a control room supervisor ending when the mine closed in 1979. He went on to work as shift foreman at Pluswood, Proboard and Fibratech. Retiring in 2005, Ron enjoyed bartending at Atikokan Legion - Branch 145.

Ron enjoyed baseball, curling, golf, bowling and reading as well as many hours spent with dear friends at the Legion playing darts, cribbage, “smear”, and sharing a beverage or two. Ron loved watching hockey and was a lifelong Canadiens (Habs) fan (even if they didn’t win!)

Ron met wife Sandra “Sandy” in 1966. Both attended a dance with friends and left that dance together, becoming lifelong companions and friends. They were married in 1967 and blessed with children Dean and Andrea.

Ron is survived by his wife Sandy, children Dean (Cindy) and Andrea, treasured grandchildren Christopher (Natasha), Justin, Drew and Lucas, great grandchildren Reid and Lillianna, brothers Roger (Karen), Arthur (Laurie), Gilbert (Suzanne), Leonard (Linda) and many nephews and nieces, sisters-in-law Shelva Seguin, Marilyn Coulson, Linda Coulson and brother-in-law Gerald Coulson.

Predeceased by his parents Alfred and Cecile, nieces Lisa and Dana, and nephew Clifford.

A memorial will be held in the summer of 2023.
