Obituary for Rhonda Lee Hyatt

It is with deep sadness that the family of Rhonda Hyatt announces her peaceful passing with her famiy at her side on January 19, 2023 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ontario.
Rhonda was born on December 1, 1962 to Melvin and Joanne (nee LaBelle) Hyatt. She is survived by her two sons Tyler (Andrea) and Damien (Jenna), mother Joanne and siblings Melvin (Sheryl), Brad, Andrea and Ryan (Cathy). Her grandchildren Paislee, Kale, Ciera, Caylie an Colten are also left to cherish her memory, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Mel.
Rhonda spent 17 years with the health and safety department at the mill in Fort Frances and was the first female to be part of the confined space rescue team. She finished out her work career with Family and Children Sevices.
Rhonda grew up in the Dance Township which is where she loved to spend her time. She was the local and family historian and resident storyteller. She collected stories and tall tales of many colourful friends and family members, and loved sharing these pieces of history with all.
She recently was able to secure a government grant to restore the Dance Community Hall which she spent countless hours at.
Rhonda’s favourite pastime was the outdoors with her family. She loved hunting and fishing with her boys and brothers, when not doing that, she could be found at the family cabin, her uncle’s tourist resort or enjoying past-times such as gardening, photography, canning, blueberry picking and chaga hunting.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Rhonda and her family would like to thank her medical team: Dr. Arnasen, NP Nikita Matichuk and homecare nurse Gail Jolicoeur.
