Raymond Clifford Wilson was born on August 12, 1935. Ray passed away at his home on January 22, 2024. Ray was 88 years old.
Ray was predeceased by his parents, Lucy Adams and Albert Wilson, by his two brothers Wallace and Gordon Wilson and by his wife Dorothy and numerous extended family members.
Ray leaves behind his son Ray Jr., daughter Olivia and her brother John and numerous nephews and nieces from brothers Wallace and Gordon.
Ray lived a full life doing different activities on the land. He engaged in outdoor work and activities such as logging, wild rice and pine cone picking, sturgeon fishing and berry picking. Being on the land was his sanctuary.
Raymond believed in his Ojibwe teaching of being thankful for everything on earth. Ray would often put out his offerings for a good life on earth.
Riding his bike became a way to get around going to Emo and back. The worst weather would never deter Ray from riding his bike.
He was an AA counsellor for many years in Minnesota.
Ray will be especially missed by his brother Allan Wilson and family.
A traditional funeral for Ray was held at Northridge Funeral Home in Emo on Thursday, January 25, 2024. Gilbert Smith was the elder. Interment took place at Rainy River First Nations.
Pallbearers were Jeff Morrison, Keith Wilson, Terry Wilson, Marty Wilson, Shawn Brown and Robin McGinnis.
