Raymond Jewell of Devlin, Ontario passed away on Saturday July 31, 2021. At the age of 75. After several weeks of declining health, Ray died peacefully with his beloved wife Linda and his daughter Rachel by his side.
Raymond was born to Wellington and Blanche Jewell, of Fort Frances on May 8, 1946. After losing Wellington at a young age, Blanche met John Vold and remarried, relocating the family to Nestor Falls. This is where he first worked as a mechanic. His job brought him to Dryden for a couple of years, then he found his way to Devlin. He worked a couple different jobs, finally deciding to open his own shop. Ray and Linda ran Ray Jewell’s Repair Limited successfully for 40 years.
In the early 80’s Ray met Linda and they became a family and welcomed Rachel Ray in September of 1982.
Throughout the years Raymond enjoyed racing, whether driving or fixing, he loved being at the track. He also loved taking his boat out on Rainy Lake and fishing for walleye. He found great joy taking his family camping and fishing on Pickwick Lake. He also belonged to the Masons, the Shriners Club and the Emo Legion.
Raymond will lovingly be remembered by his wife Linda; children Rachel, Allison and Troy(Sharon): Grandchildren Josey Ray, Gracey Lynn, Kira, Chase.
Sisters Grace, Arlene, Bonnie (Elton)& brothers Ed (Alie). As Well as numerous nieces and nephews and Linda’s siblings and family.
Ray was predeceased by his father Wellington, mother Blache, Step-father John, brothers Ralph, sister Jean, brother-in-law's Russell,Vinton.
Honorary Pallbearers are Joey Judson, Bill Derendorf, Murray Witherspoon, Vernon Thompson, Ed Vold, Bob Teeple.
A service was held on Saturday August 7th at the Emo Legion 1pm to 3pm, Come and go.
People wishing to honour Ray’s memory can make donations to Heart and Stroke Society or the Tamarack House in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
