Obituary for Patricia Wallace-Howard

With a heavy heart I announce the passing of my wife and best friend Patricia Elaine Wallace- Howard, on Tuesday August 9th 2022 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, with her family by her side.

Pat was born to Jack and Elaine Wallace on June 12 1951 in Brandon Manitoba, she was the oldest child of four. She attended school in Winnipeg and went to the University of Manitoba to get her teaching degree in Physical Education. Pat spent a few years teaching at the schools in Winnipeg, and started coaching the Canadian Wheelchair athletes in the PAN AM and Commonwealth Games, traveling around the world.

Pat moved to Kenora in July of 1983 where her and her sister Judy bought Perch Bay Resort, and she worked with Judy until 1986. Pat would spend summers at the resort and winters on a sheet of ice, curling. This is where in 1984 she met her husband (to be) Wayne Howard. They moved to Emo area in 1986 and bought Ross’ Resort on Clearwater Lake. In the fall of 1986 after a season of resort life, and still together, they decided to get married and remained at Ross’ Resort until 2018.

Pat’s true enjoyment in the business was meeting all the new people and welcoming back all the old guests. She loved to work side by side with all the summer students she would hire, trying to teach them good work habits and hopefully have a good influence on their lives. She helped some of them even while they were buying their own resorts giving advice from experience.

Pat was always outside, loved to stay active and in shape, walking everyday in all weather. She decided to start fishing later on at the resort, snd loved catching small mouth bass. She managed to fish in some tournaments where Pat and Wayne even won a couple. She always contributed the largest fish of their catch.

Pat is survived by her husband Wayne Howard, sisters Judy Vivian, Dawna Wallace-Brown (Dave Brown) and her brother Scott Wallace (Donna Wallace). As well as many nieces and nephews. A time of fellowship will be held in Pat's memory on Friday August 19, 2022, 2-4 p.m. at the Northridge Funeral Home, Emo, Ontario.

Pat will be truly missed by all who got to know her. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Canadian Cancer Society by cheque, C/O Northridge Funeral Home, Box 89, Emo Ontario, P0W 1E0.
