Orest Paul Mihichuk

It is with heavy hearts the family of Orest Mihichuk, (affectionately known as Big “O”) age 82, announce his passing on Friday June 19, 2020 at Riverside Health Care Facilities. Orest was born on March 22, 1938 to Lena and Frank Mihichuk and was a lifetime resident of Fort Frances.
Orest will be sadly miss by his wife Iris (Smutylo), his son Michael Mihichuk (Terri), his daughter Angela Siemens (Kelly) and his grandson Dawson Mihichuk, and step grandchildren Jacob and Katie Siemens.

He was employed for many years as a Beater Engineer by the Ontario-Minnesota pulp and paper mill, retiring on April 1, 1994.
He was a life long member of St. George’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
In his younger years Orest enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, baseball and playing cards. After retirement he spent many hours golfing, watching every kind of sports and tending to his garden, especially his tomato plants.
23 years ago Orest received a liver transplant and always encouraged everyone to register for organ donation.

Orest is also survived by his sisters in law, Kornelia Zygmont, Lisa Cameron and brother in law, Daniel Smutylo and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Lena Mihichuk, In-laws, Harry and Zina Smutylo, brothers John Mihichuk, Matt Mihichuk, Victor Mihichuk sister Jenny Rizzo, sisters in law, Marie Mihichuk, Olga Mihichuk, Muriel Mihichuk, brothers in law, Frank Rizzo and Stanley John Zygmont. Nieces Nina Coran And Rose Marie Wagner.

As per Orest’s wishes cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will follow at a later date.
