It is with heavy hearts that the family of Myrna Jean Lauzon (mom), 81 years of Fort Frances, Ontario, announce her passing on December 28, 2022 with her daughters by her side.
Jean was born to parents Donald and Laura (Bingleman) Forsyth on August 31, 1941 in Rainy River, Ontario. Mom was the third oldest child, in the Forsyth family of thirteen.
Jean, mom, was united in marriage to Gerald Lauzon on November 16, 1960 in Rainy River, Ontario. They settled in Pinewood, Ontario and together, they raised 5 children, Ken, Sandra, Lester, James and Cindy.
Our mother was an avid gardener. She always had more than one garden and would supply many families in the community with fresh vegetables. Nothing was wasted in mom’s garden. She always filled the basement with different preserves for the upcoming winter.
In the summer, you could often find mom outside tending to her flower gardens and planters, feeding peanuts to the many chipmunks, or filling her hummingbird and bird feeders, that attracted the prettiest birds. In the winter months, our parents fed the deer and mom would always put out food for the flying squirrels which she adored.
Camping at Bergland Park was one of mom’s favourite things to do. She loved to camp with Dad and us children, grandchildren & great grand children. Being at the lake was one of mom’s greatest joys. During the fall and winter months, when family was visiting we would explore the many bush trails enjoying hot chocolate and hot dogs along the way.
Mom loved her children, grand children and especially her great grand children. She enjoyed it when her family would visit so she could cook for everyone of them. She was praised for her dill pickles, coleslaw and her delicious meals were second to none. Mom was an amazing cook in the kitchen right up till the end. She would always make sure you never left hungry.
Mom is survived by her daughters Sandra & Cindy (Cory). Her sons Ken (Mona), Lester (Kim), & James (Valerie). Her sisters Ardelle, Janet, Wanda, Kathy, Linda (Brian), Karen (Jerry), and Leah (Eric). Her brothers Dale (Cecile), David (Debbie), Cammy (Paulette), and Darrell as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and neighbours.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years Gerald, great grand daughter Ellie, brother Leland, sister-in-law Henny, & brother-in-law Frank, Alex, Ed, Jerry, Bill & Russell.
The family has entrusted Northridge Funeral Home with the arrangements.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
