Obituary for Martin "Sonny" Pietila
Unexpectedly the family announces the sudden passing of Martin "Sonny" Pietila 76 of Chapple Twp, Ontario on Wednesday July 7, 2021 at his residence.
Sonny was born in Fort Frances, Ontario on August 16, 1944 to parents Eunice and Uuno Pietila.
He was united in marriage to Sandra Day and they resided in Nanaimo, BC for a period until moving back to the Rainy River District.
Sonny worked at numerous jobs over the years, and in latter years in the bush with Fred Brown until retirement.
He enjoyed fishing, canoeing and just going for drives.
He is survived by his wife Sandra, his aunt Lydia Barras and numerous extended family members.
Sonny was predeceased by his parents, Eunice and Uuno Pietila, his step father Sid Tuddinham, and his infant sister Judith.
A service of celebration and remembrance will be held at a later date. If desired memorial donations may be made in Sonny's memory to the Off Lake Covenant Church by cheque, c/o Northridge Funeral Home, Box 89, Emo, ON P0W 1E0.
