Marlene Eyvonne Yuill (nee Dungey)
With heavy hearts, the family of Marlene Yuill announce her passing on Tuesday, August 30, 2022. Marlene was born to John and Dorothea Dungey on August 12, 1933, in Emo, Ontario.
On September 14, 1950, Marlene was united in marriage with the love of her life, Thomas (Tuck) Yuill. They raised their three children starting in Emo and moving to Fort Frances while the kids were young.
Marlene worked the majority of her life in retail at businesses such as Clinic Pharmacy, Wilkins China Shop, the Fashion Closet and the Camera Shop until she found her passion for assisting others with healthy lifestyle choices and fun activities at LaVerendrye Day Hospital program. It was there where she made so many wonderful friends and shared her love of the arts. Marlene’s love of nature, music, poetry and photography showed in everything she did.
Those who knew Marlene knew that she lived an honest and healthy life, never leaving the house without being well put together. She lead her family with grace, faith and patience, always setting examples of compassion and generosity. We proudly carry on her altruistic teachings, holding her spirit close to our hearts.
Marlene’s greatest passion in life was her family and her love for her grandchildren was infinite, cherishing every moment she spent with them. We always looked forward to holidays where we’d feast on “enough food for an army.” There was always plenty of cookies, cheesecakes and pies, not only for the family but for charitable events, friends and neighbours.
Her most recent favourite pastimes were watching figure skating and the Toronto Blue Jays and hanging out with her beloved grand dog, Ruby.
Later in life Marlene found her second family where her faith shone bright at the Church of the Holy Spirit. Her church family was a fundamental part of her life where strong bonds were formed and cherished.
Marlene was predeceased by her husband Thomas (Tuck) Yuill, her parents John and Dorothea Dungey, brother Art Dungey and her son-in-law Eugene McPherson. Marlene is survived by her children Ria McPherson, Cheryl (Byrne) Montgomery, Michael (Cindy) Yuill, siblings Norma Erickson and Vernon Dungey, three sisters-in-law Evie, Alice and Alphild, her grandchildren Chad Bruyere (Teresa), Tani Bruyere, Melanie McPherson, Melissa McPherson (Valley), Lawrence McPherson, Randi Yuill and Kelli Yuill, great grandchildren Tanner, Macartney, Shae and Taylor, one great great grandchild Éowyn and four generations of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will take place on Thursday, September 29, 2022, 1:00 p.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Fort Frances.Interment will be held at the Yuill family plot in the Emo Cemetery. If friends wish, donations can be made to the Church of the Holy Spirit in lieu of flowers.
