Marjorie Lillian Robertson
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Marjorie Lillian Robertson announces her passing on Friday July 3, at the age of 98. Marjorie was born on December 16, 1921 in Fort Frances to Florence and William Robertson and was a lifetime resident of Fort Frances.
Marjorie was predeceased by her parents as well as her brothers and their wives, Earnest (Irene) and Norman (Winnifred) Robertson a nephew Bill Robertson and nephews in law Donald McCabe, Pete Warwick and Al Hunter.
Marjorie will be greatly missed by her nieces, Wilma McCabe of Fort Frances, Kaye Warwick and Marty Hunter of Owen Sound, and her nephews Allan Robertson and Jim Robertson (Karen) also of Owen Sound and their families.
Although Marjorie did not have any children of her own she had a very special relationship with her great niece and great nephews, we all called her Aunt Marshy and she was like a second mother to Brenda (Mervon) Hartlin, Bradley McCabe, Brian (Kelly) McCabe, Cory (Wanda) McCabe and Michael McCabe and she thought the world of her great great nieces Taylor and Nicole and her great great nephew Evan.
Marjorie welcomed her nieces and nephews into her home as if we were her own children. When we think of our Aunt Marshy we will always have wonderful memories of Christmas dinners, family get-togethers and sleep overs at her home. We always knew we had a second home with Aunt Marshy and could always count on her for a loving hug and lunch dates featuring her famous macaroni and cheese.
Marjorie always treasured time spent with family; she loved traveling to Owen Sound to visit her brother Norman and his family and delighted in the summertime visits when her family from Owen Sound came to Fort Frances to visit her.
Marjorie was an avid bowler and continued bowling well into her 70’s. She also enjoyed reading books and playing cards with Wilma and Don. Marjorie was a long-time member of the Knox United Church Choir. Most of all Aunt Marshy loved being with family, she cherished every moment spent with her nieces and nephews and we all cherished every moment spent with her.
As per Marjorie’s request there will be no funeral services, a private family celebration of Marjorie’s life will be held at a later date. If friends and family so desire, in memoriam donations may be made to Riverside Foundation for Health Care.
