The family of Margaret Galbraith are saddened to announce her passing on May 11, 2023 at Atikokan General Hospital on her 44th wedding anniversary.
Margaret Ann Galbraith (nee Munn) was born November 27, 1947 to Gwendoline and David Munn in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Margaret was the eldest of four children. Her siblings are Fred, Barbara and Audrey.
Margaret attended Gladstone Elementary School, Earl Grey School for grades 7-9 and Technical-Vocational High School.
It was at Tech. Voc. where Margaret met James, the love of her life, however their paths would not cross again until many years later.
Margaret and James were married on May 11, 1979 in Atikokan at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church followed by a reception in Fort Frances.
Margaret’s earlier career began in downtown Winnipeg at a snack bar. She also volunteered at Burt Rodger’s Flower Shop as a cashier and James delivered the flowers.
Margaret worked at the Winnipeg Police Department as a Secretary for several years.
Once moving to Atikokan she was a lunch monitor at Hemlock School as well as a Teacher’s Assistant.
Margaret was a long time Nanny for several families, including Davidson’s, Dr. Giles, Desserres and Danco’s. She loved these children as she would her own.
Margaret leaves to mourn her husband James, the love of her life and their three children; Tricia (James), Matthew (Joanne), Jennifer (Krista) as well as her grandchildren Madison (Dillon), Keaton (Linda), Austin, Isabelle, Lucas and Niah. Great grandchildren Tavares and Lincoln.
Margaret enjoyed bird watching, tracking her hummingbirds, planting flowers and sitting in the gazebo with her tea listening to the birds and the breeze.
She loved cooking but more so baking. It was her way of thanking anyone who helped out or was in need. Many enjoyed her recipes.
Her greatest joy above all else was time spent with family and watching the children’s activities.
Mom valued kindness above all else and took care of those less fortunate. She would be touched if others continued her legacy by paying kindness forward in any way that feels right to you.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made by cheque to Atikokan General Hospital, c/o of Northridge Funeral Home, Box 89, Emo, Ontario P0W 1E0.
