Obituary for Lloyd Hartnell

Lloyd was born May 11, 1927 in Blue Twp, Ontario to parents Bill and Esther (nee Wensley) Hartnell.

Lloyd worked as a truck driver for several years. Lloyd married Mona (nee Nielson) Shrumm in 1951. Mona was a widow, with two young children, whom Lloyd adopted. They also had two daughters to complete their family.

They lived on a farm north of Stratton, and shipped milk to Kenora and raised beef cattle. Lloyd also worked as a pulp cutter and did some guiding on Lake of the Woods.

In 1967, they had a home built in Nestor Falls on Bass Lake, and moved there in 1968. Lloyd continued guiding and started working for the Dept. of Highways. He became full time road man in 1975. He retired in 1992. He volunteered for the Nestor Falls Volunteer Fire Dept. and served on the Norman Cottam Memorial Garden Cemetery Board, and volunteered cutting the grass at the cemetery. Lloyd was a very quiet, private, hardworking honest man. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and reading.
