Obituary for Leslie Roy McNally

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Leslie Roy McNally of Emo, Ontario, beloved husband of Sharon McNally on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at Riverside Healthcare Facilities in Fort Frances.

Les was born on October 31, 1937, in Rainy River, Ontario to Charles and Mabel McNally. He grew up in Harris Hill, moved to Emo when he was 16 where he met and married the love of his life Sharon on November 18, 1966.

Les worked numerous jobs through the years from construction, mining in Thompson, Manitoba, logging, and farming in numerous areas.
In 1967 they welcomed their first son (Leslie) Randy followed by Keith, Tammy, and Michelle.

Les enjoyed his years farming, spending time with family, curling, hunting, fishing, and camping in Morson at Jim and Cindy Miller’s.

He loved spending time with the grandkids and when they got too loud, he would just turn down his hearing aids.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 54 years, Sharon, children Randy (Patty) McNally, Tammy (Glen) Strachan, Michelle (Rob) Anderson, and daughter in law Tammy McNally. He is also survived by his 13 grandchildren Kailey Strachan (Tom), Alyssa Strachan (Mike), William (Brittany) Anderson, Tasha (Ben) Norton, Marissa (Luke) Esselink, Paige McNally (Nolan), Brody Strachan (Erika), Kassidy Strachan, Carter Kinnear, Caitlin Anderson (Kaden), Meagan Anderson, Madison Anderson, and Douglas Anderson. As well as 7 great-grandchildren, Ryder Miller, Paisley Esselink, Rhett Norton, Casey Wilson, Rylee Anderson, Mason Strachan, and Hazel Vold.
Sisters, Dorothy Gate of Bergland, Jean Heisler of Rainy River, Beaulah Larocque of Emo, Marg (Dale) Johnsrud of Rainy River, Dianne (Jack) Vandenbrand of Stratton, sister in laws, Marilyn McNally, Lorraine Loveday, Norma (Ronnie) Both and Marlene McNally and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Mabel McNally, father-in-law, Wallace Allan, mother-in-law Gladys Allan, son Keith McNally, sister Helen Nelson, brothers Norman, Donald, Glen, Floyd and brother-in-law’s Gerald Allan, Chuck Gate, Carl Heisler, Roland Larocque, and Ed Nelson.

Service of Celebration and Remembrance will be held on Monday November 22, 2021 1 p.m. at the Northridge Funeral Home, Emo, Ontario. Rev. Frances Flook Officiating. Interment to take place at a later date.

If friends wish donations may be made in memory of Les to the Rainy River District Alzheimer Society or Tamarack House in Thunder Bay.
