It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Lance John Thomas on Friday, July 22, 2022, age 78, at the Atikokan General Hospital.
Lance started his career as a pipefitter in Sudbury, Ontario. His enthusiasm for life and adventure soon had him building mines around the world for the next 40 years.
In 2020 dear friends, Gerry and Donald, invited him to Atikokan. He came to fish and hunt and decided this was the best place to retire. He spent the next 22 years doing exactly what he loved, with those he loved, and who loved him in his favourite corner of the world.
Lance is survived by his life partner Karen Vandoorne, sons Michael Thomas (Judy), John Thomas, Nicholas and Christopher Vandoorne, siblings Marilyn Agnew, Janice Rhodes and Mike Thomas, four grandchildren, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents Alcedor & Rena Thomas, sister Yolande Brown and son Christopher Thomas.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Atikokan Public Library or the Atikokan General Hospital Foundation.
