Obituary for Hal Gerald Harasymyk

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Hal Harasymyk, our much loved son, brother, and uncle. Hal was born November 9, 1966 in Emo, Ontario spending his entire life in the district.
In his younger years Hal enjoyed playing hockey, fishing, snowmobiling, riding his dirt bike, trapping and spending his summers with his family at the cabin.
Hal spent the last 20 years owning and operating the North Clearwater portage. This is where he made many lifelong friends and enjoyed catching up with anyone that passed over the portage.
Hal was a kind man who enjoyed the simple things in life, and lived his life in that way. He has a great love for his dogs and the nature that surrounded him.
Hal was predeceased by his father Gerry, grandparents Isabel & Willliam Harasymyk and Charlie and Lorraine Tompkins.
He will be lovingly remembered and survived by his mother Janice (Lyle), and his sisters Pam (Brad), Noreen (Andy) and Wendy (Tom). He is also survived by his nieces and nephews; Matt, Brett (Aly), Jordan, Kirsten, Megan (Tyler), Sam and Ali; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and his loyal companion, his dog Stevie.
We will miss seeing Hal and his dog on his evening boat rides around the bay after closing hours.
If desired, donations in Hal’s memory can be made to the Emo and District Hospital Auxiliary, Box 505, Emo, ON P0W 1E0 or c/o Northridge Funeral Home Ltd., Box 89, Emo, ON P0W 1E0.

“Lives come in all shapes and sizes. Sometimes you have to look past the forest to see the trees, sometimes past the obvious to see the reality beneath. Sometimes past the noise to see the heart of a good, decent and very kind man. A man who would have given you the shirt off his back, and it might have been one of the only two he had. Sometimes character is hidden by flaws, but it still exists. You just have to look for it, because it really was there all along,”
