Obituary for Freda Pauline Yuill (Bowman)

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Freda Pauline Yuill of Fort Frances, Ontario, beloved mother of Gordon Yuill, on December 02, 2021, at Rainycrest Home in Fort Frances.



On December 01, 1924, Freda was born in Morley Township, Ontario, to Clarence and Hellen Bowman. She moved to Fort Frances in 1955 with her husband Alexander (Alex) Yuill and son Gordon, where she was working at the old Fort Frances Clinic on Scott Street. For forty years, Freda dedicated herself to the Clinic, the doctors, and the Fort Frances area patients. She retired in 1993 at the age of 69.



Freda will be greatly missed by her son Gordon (Colleen) Yuill of Rockland Ontario, her grandson Marc (Renee) Yuill and children Cody and Kiera of Rockland Ontario, and her grandson Kerry (Stephanie) Yuill and children Dylan and Avery of Kanata Ontario; and, Freda’s sister Alphild Yuill of Thunder Bay, sister-in-law Marlene Yuill of Fort Frances, sister-in-law Alice Niskala of Winnipeg, and by her numerous nieces and nephews.



Freda was predeceased by her parents Clarence and Helen Bowman; father-in-law George (Scotty) and mother-in-law Annie Yuill; infant son Peter Yuill; husband Alexander Yuill; sister Silvia and brother-in-law Ted Bovair; brother Gordon and sister-in-law Rita Bowman; brother-in-law Tom (Tuck) Yuill; brother-in-law Johnny Yuill; brother-in-law Johnny Niskala; sister-in-law Elizabeth (Lil) and brother-in-law Charlie Dimit.

A memorial service will be held next summer in Freda's memory.


The Yuill family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Rainycrest for the years of loving care and support. As well as a special heartfelt thank you to Mom’s Pastor and good friend Dianne Clifford who’s amazing love and support over these final days instilled a level of comfort felt not only by Mom but our entire family. Thank you all.
