Obituary for Doris Ethel Herkes (Hughes)
DORIS HERKES
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Doris Ethel Herkes (nee Hughes), 89, of Fort Frances, Ont., on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2022 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances.
Doris was born in Rainy River on December 8, 1932 to Ivy & Wallace Hughes, the second youngest of 8 children.
She was united in marriage to James Herkes on Jan. 28, 1958. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary before his passing in 2018.
Doris is survived by her two children Heather (Marvin) Hatch and Ian Herkes; and granddaughter, Sophia.
She is survived by brothers/sister-in-law Gordon (Mary) Herkes, Alma Herkes and George (Linda) Herkes and numerous nieces and nephews.
After living in many locations throughout Canada, Mom returned to where she was born and upon her passing was reunited with her parents, and her 7 siblings and their spouses, Ted (Jessie), Judy (Laverne), Bubs (Jean), Nancy (Geoff), Victor (Helen), Bill and Betty (Ben) and nephews Billy and Brian Hughes.
Burial will be held at a future date.
