It is with great sadness that the family of Doreen Buffington, 91, announces her peaceful passing on April 8, 2022.
Doreen was born on June 16, 1930 to Margaret and Earl Cunningham in Fort Frances. In 1951 she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Larry, and they had 67 happy years of marriage together.
Most of her working career was spent as a secretary at the local paper mill office. Over the years Doreen and Larry enjoyed traveling in Canada and the United States and twice to Scotland. After retirement, they enjoyed many winters in Arizona. Doreen enjoyed fishing and in 1984, she landed a 8.64 lb walleye, a trophy that hung on the wall in the rec room.
She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and many other crafts. Many of her creations are still being enjoyed by family and friends. Doreen and Larry’s home was a happy and welcoming place for friends and family to visit.
She will be greatly missed by her daughter Jan (Mike) Fodchuk, granddaughter Ciara Fodchuk, and brother Deane (June) Cunningham. She is also survived by her niece and nephews Todd, Tracey, and Jason and their families; and nephew and nieces, Gary, Susan, and Judy and their families.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband Larry, granddaughter Kylee Fodchuk, brother Ted and wife Doris Cunningham; brother Don and wife Joyce Cunningham and niece Patricia; in-laws Richard and Elsie Buffington, Sara and Dayton Gaylord and Tom Koski.
We love you always and forever Mom.
By her request there will be no funeral, there will be a celebration of her life at a later date.
