Obituary for Donald Gary Roulston

Sadly the family announces the passing of Donald Gary Roulston on August 16, 2022 at the LaVerendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, ON.
Donald Gary Roulston was born May 27, 1943 in Fort Frances, ON. to Leroy and Mary Roulston. He was the seventh of nine children. Two children would be born four years later. He grew up in Fort Frances going to McIrvine, Robert Moore and Fort Frances High School.
At age 12, his family moved to Kenora, ON. where they ran a dairy farm for his oldest brother Allan, who also worked as a brakeman for CP Rail in Kenora.
Don and his Dad Leroy milked 18 cows morning and night, seven days a week. He went to Kenora High School and at age 17 finished his grade 10. He then started working for Jack Edwards Blasting & Drilling. Three years later he started working at the Kenora Mill and worked in the wood room for three years as carpenter’s helper.
He met the love of his life, Anna in 1962 while on a trip on Rainy Lake, Fort Frances. They married in 1964 having three wonderful children, Donna Kumhyr of Cochrane, Alberta, Darryl Roulston of Dryden, Ontario and Sheila Roulston of Pitt Meadows, B.C.
Don and family had a beautiful life growing up in Kenora, doing lots of fishing and camping around Kenora and Rainy Lake in Fort Frances. They traveled to Florida and went to Disney World where wonderful memories were made.
In 1997 Don, his brother Lorne and lifelong friend Harold Wilson started R & W Timber in Ear Falls, cutting wood for the Kenora Mill. The company ran for 42 years. Lorne passed away in 1994, and Harold retired in 1992. In 2019 Don retired with his wife Anna at their beautiful lake home on Rainy Lake. Don’s wish is to have no service or viewing. His family and friends will have a Ceremony of Life at a later date.
Don is survived by his wife Anna, his children, Donna Kumhyr (Leslie), Darryl and Sheila and his grandchildren, Meghan, Luke, Carter, Jackson and Jenna, and his siblings Gary Roulston, Irene Wilson, Doreen Kingsley and Gail Sillery.
Don was predeceased by his parents Leroy and Mary Roulston, and his brothers Allan, Alvin, Rudy and Lorne.
