Obituary for Diane "Aapti way giizhig kwe" Morrison

On Thursday April 6, 2023—Diane “Aaptiway Giizhig Kwe” Morrison of Nigigoonsiminkaanging First Nation began her journey to the spirit world. Diane was born on January 15, 1958 in Fort Frances, ON. Diane was a loving and devoted wife of 45 years to Ernie Morrison Sr. and proud mother of their 3 sons; Jay, Victor and Clint. She was an amazing grandmother to her grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she treasured very much. She was a beloved daughter to her mothers, Ellen Adams and Gladys Guimond and father Victor Guimond. She cherished her brother and her sisters. Diane was known for her big heart, warm hugs, and unconditional love to everyone who knew her. She was a kind, compassionate and understanding person. All the qualities she carried made her an absolute dedicated and much needed helper within the First Nation communities. She was a gifted mentor to many, especially to the youth who struggled with metal health and trauma.
Diane had a great sense of humour and her laughter was very contagious. Diane loved travelling to powwows and enjoyed listening to her sons and nephews sing on the drum and watching all of her family dance in the circle. Diane loved her quality time with Ernie, often taking casino trips on the weekends together. She loved to shop and spread gifts to her loved ones. She also enjoyed relaxing with a good book at home. Her pride and joy was her grandbabies, her sleepovers and the songs she made up for them will be greatly missed.
Diane will be lovingly remembered by the love of her life, partner, soulmate; Ernie. Her beloved children; Jay (Ange), Victor (Ashley), and Clinton.
