David (Davy) Wayne Crowe
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Davy Wayne Crowe on Wednesday November 24th at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre.
Davy was born on March 3, 1956 in Fort Frances to David and Evora Crowe.
As a young boy, he had a large paper route throughout McIrvine. A few years later he worked as a dockboy at Dalseg’s Tourist Camp in Nestor Falls. Davey also worked on the rock crusher on the Causeway for Armstrong for a period of time.
As a young man he moved to Thunder Bay and was employed by Great Lakes Paper for a number of years. He decided to seek out new career opportunities out west making his new home in Edmonton, while working in the oil rigs for roughly the next 10 years.
Missing Rainy Lake and the hunting and fishing that he loved, he returned home and worked as a guide on Rainy with his dad.
It was here that he met his wife Elaine Werenko and they moved to Shebandowan. Davey worked in the mine there until it closed and then took a contract as a paper courier for the Thunder Bay Journal traveling between Thunder Bay and Fort Frances until he retired.
Davy’s best memories were spending time with family and fishing on Big Sawbill Lake at the cabin that he and his dad built.
He will always be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humour. Because he was so easy going he made many lifelong friends and always looked forward to the annual trout fishing trip with the guys.
Davy is survived by his wife Elaine, step sons Nick Sivonen (Bobbie), John Sivonen (Mandi); his grandchildren Avery, Parker, Paxton, Noah, Olivia; his brother in law David Werenko, his brother Allan Morrisseau, brother in law Ed Taylor; his sister Bonnie (Lawrence) Simmons and their children Jenna Gerley and Lucas Simmons; sister Karen (Bob) McTavish and their children Kristy McTavish, Kaily Bodnarchuk and Alysia Jones and sister Jenny (Glenn) Bodnar; his nephews Ron Taylor, Craig Kearney, nieces Tammy Ducharme, Carrie Andrusco, Candace Kadikoff, Cherie Serrano and their families.
Davy was predeceased by his parents David and Evora Crowe, stepson Eric Sivonen, sisters Carol Lynn Crowe, Alfreda (Mickey) Kearney, and Colleen Taylor, sister in-law Mary Morrisseau, niece Billy Jean McKee and nephew Michael Kearney.
A service of celebration and remembrance will be held on Sunday December 5, 2021 2 p.m. at the Couchiching Multi Use Facility with Rev Frances Flook Officiating. Interment will take place at a later date. Covid guidelines to be followed
Honourary Pall Bearers will be Ron Taylor, Luke Simmons, Craig Kearney, Les Baker, Terry King, Pat Roach, Bill Roach and Eddie Calder.
Davy had a great faith and he knew his saviour. Matt 19:30 “ But many who are first will be last and many who are last will be first.”
