Colin Dalseg Obituary

It is with heavy hearts the family of Colin Maurice Dalseg announce his sudden passing on November 21, 2019, at Thunder Bay Regional. Colin was born on February 24, 1940, in Rainy River, ON, son of Norman and Marie Dalseg (nee Mathieson).

Colin was raised in Morson, ON and started working for Dalseg’s Forest Products in 1958 and worked on freight boats, the sawmill, drove truck, ran his own logging camp on Split Rock Island, Lake of the Woods, was manager of Dalseg’s Marina and purchased Peterson’s Stop and Shop grocery store in 1974. Colin started working for Boise Cascade in Fort Frances, in 1975 as a scaler. Colin sold the grocery store and moved his family to Emo, ON in 1976. Colin retired from Abitibi Forest Products in 1999. After retiring he worked for Tompkins Hardware in the summer months delivering boats for repair until 2018. Colin enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren all about Lake of the Woods, how to run a boat and motor and where to fish.

Colin will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Donna (nee Marmus), children Bonnie (Jean), Debbie (Keith), Wendy (Kevin) and Dane (Robyn), grandchildren Mathieu, Tressa, Tanner, Mina, Parker, Jack, Will, and Nathan. Colin is also survived by his sisters Katherine (Kristine), Carol, Ronda and JoAnn (Lenny) and their families. Colin was predeceased by his parents and his older brother Roy.

In honor of Colin’s wishes, no service will be held. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Online condolences may be offered at www.northridgefuneralhome.com
