Obituary for Christine "Qway" Comegan (Prince)

It is with sad hearts that the family of Christine Comegan announce her sudden passing on Tuesday March 30, 2021.
Christine was born on December 23, 1933 to Albert and Mary Prince. She was one of eight children.
Christine was a Jingle Dress dancer all her life. She often took both Christina and Vanessa to the Pow Wow circuits in Manitoba and Ontario. She made many friends in those circles and maintained strong ties to them like family. Many of her friends came to love and greatly respect her and they would pick her up and take her to go to their communities for the pow wow. She had strong traditional values and beliefs of the Anishinaabe way of life. Prior to being placed into Residential School, she practiced her Anishinaabe ways as a young woman and returned to Anishinaabe way of life after returning from the school. She loved all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Christine was also very fond of all her family, relatives and many friends. She was especially proud of her granddaughter Daphne Comegan and she was looking forward to seeing her granddaughter graduate from the University of Manitoba
Faculty of Law this coming May 2021. She knew that her younger grandchildren would break the cycle of residential schools.
Christine is predeceased by her parents Albert and Mary Prince (Shebagegit) her son Barry Comegan, her brothers Alfred Prince, Napoleon Prince and Stanley Prince and her sisters Margaret Mosher and Sara Prince, her nephew Harry Prince (Windego) and her niece Dorothy Prince, and her beloved Granddaughter Christina Zillmer-Comegan whom she raised from the age of ten months old.
