Obituary for Chelsey Elizabeth Smith
Chelsey Elizabeth Smith was born Tuesday, May 30, 1989 to Tammy Smith and her daughter Amanda at Winnipeg Health Science Centre. She entered life at 2.2lbs with many physical and developmental challenges but with a fighting spirit that has been her strength for 33 and a half years.
Her birth doctor said she wouldn’t live, but before Chelsey was born God knew the plan for our Chelsey. He lovingly “made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank You for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous…how well I know it. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in Your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.” Ps 139: 13,14,16 God prepared the way before her with the many people that would help her throughout her life. “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with My victorious right hand.” Is. 41:10
On May 4, 1990 Chelsey entered the lives of Floyd and Joyce Georgeson and it has been our joy and privilege to love and care for her. Even though she couldn’t walk she leaves her footprints on our lives. Even though she couldn’t talk she “spoke” of love, kindness and compassion. She couldn’t feed herself but she fed others patience, perseverance and courage. There was actually very little she could do for herself but she knew how to love and be loved because love is all she has ever known - Love from God, her family and others. Over her lifetime she had many who helped her. Most notably was her “sister” Becky, her “brothers” Ernest and Jeff and her caregivers Carol McClain, Darla Georgeson, Debbie Weaver, Tami Burnell, Grace Pawloski, Betty Bazinet, Tina Penner, Tabea Shirk, Colleen Carr, Paige Anderson, Jenna Mack, Amy Georgeson and her personal hairdresser Stacy Kreger.
Chelsey’s most favorite person in her life, Daddy Floyd Georgeson preceded her to his heavenly home on August 4, 2014. He had spent countless hours holding her, loving her, singing to her and walking the floor with her. Her “sister” Becky filled that space in her life. Chelsey expressed love and joy for music, singing, piano playing, praying, church family and being in the center of whatever activity was going on. She could be very “social” and loved to laugh. Her eyes would light up at the name of Jesus!
“Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, there’s just something about that Name!”
In her younger years Chelsey enjoyed therapeutic horseback riding. When she was no longer physically able to enjoy that she moved onto riding the quad and when she was no longer physically able to do that, Mommy Joyce bought her a side by side. She could spend hours in the ranger, riding the trails and enjoying nature, visiting the horses and picking flowers.
Chelsey was so precious and we marvelled at her little feet, small hands, button nose and sweet freckles. She overcame so many surgeries and physical struggles with amazing strength. “They that wait upon the Lord will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings as eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.” Is 40:31
On December 10, 2022 at 2:50pm Chelsey finished her last physical fight on earth and God lovingly took her to her heavenly home with Him. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful.” 2 Tim 4:7. She is now walking, leaping and praising God in a new and perfect body.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, December 15, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Barwick Community Church.
