BETTY JEAN MARTIN (GOSSELIN)
It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Mrs. Betty Jean Martin of Fort Frances, Ontario, on Tuesday December 1st, 2020 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances at the age of 83.
Betty was born in Fort Frances, Ontario on September 14th, 1937 to Ned & Alice Gosselin. She was united in marriage to Lyle John Martin on May 28th, 1960.
As a young woman, Betty worked for Bell Telephone as a Switch Board Operator. After her and Lyle married and began to raise a family, they purchased the Modern Vee Motel and ran that together along with their service station, Pacific 66. After the sale of the Motel, Betty worked for Esquire Shop, Gagne Pharmacy and finally retiring from the Fort Frances Clinic. Betty & Lyle enjoyed many years at their cabin on Hopkin's Bay with their children and grandchildren. In later years, they travelled South in their motorhome during the winter, while enjoying the summers gardening and spending time with their family camping.
Betty was predeased by her loving husband Lyle of 56 years, her sister Joan Foster, brothers-in-law Donald Foster as well as Donald & Arthur Martin.
Betty will be lovingly remembered by her children; Terry (Dawn) Martin of Fort Frances, Ont., Deborah (Kevin) DeGagné of Thunder Bay, Ont., and Bradley (Evelyn) Martin of Fort Frances, Ont.
She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Kiel (Megan), Scott, Jeremy, Amber, Chelsea, Lucas, Alyssa (Mukil), Samantha (Brennan), Jessica, and Cassidy; as well as numerous great-grandchildren.
As per Betty's wishes, a private family service for her and Lyle will be held at a later date.
