Mrs Betty May Colfer(nee Millan).
On December 5, 2022 we were saddened by the loss of our mom, Betty Colfer.
Betty passed quietly at her home in RainyCrest following complications with Influenza
A.
She was born in the Yukon Territories on October 2, 1930, and lived many
years in Lethbridge, Alberta with her family of 2 brothers and 3
sisters. When she met and married Arthur Patrick Colfer in Sioux
Lookout, Ontario they lived in several cities, following his flying
career before settling permanently in Fort Frances, Ontario. Mom loved
playing baseball, dancing, spending sunny days at the beach at Pither’s
Point Park and working in tourism for Ball Lake Lodge. Later she owned
and ran a small tuck shop at the Fort Frances Airport. Betty was known
for her beautiful sewing, her love of beautiful clothes, her generous
nature and love of animals. Many stray cats would come for treats and all
of the squirrels in the yard had names. Many, many peanuts are buried
everywhere in the yards on Scott Street and Portage Avenue where she lived.
She will lovingly be missed by her son Patrick John Colfer and wife,
Pamela Jayne (nee Calder) and grandson Johnathan Patrick Colfer and
daughter, Ellen Lee Colfer.
Many thanks first and foremost to my wonderful brother Patrick who for so
many years took care of mom and the house after our father past and was
at her bedside until the end. Thanks to Dr. Moorehouse and the nursing
support at Rainy Crest and Laverandre hospital who cared for mom in the
last years. Thanks also to wonderful neighbours Dave and Julie Crichton
who were such great friends and so helpful to mom when she needed them.
Thank to those who sent the many cards and prayers we received. Bless you, friends.
There will be no services as per Betty’s wishes.
