Obituary for Alice Wepruk (Franko)

Alice Wepruk (Franko)

11 May, 1928-30 June, 2021

Alice Wepruk aged 93 of Fort Frances died peacefully at Rainycrest Home for the Aged on 30 June, 2021.

She lived a long and fruitful life and although with her passing there is much sorrow, there is also much peace.

Mom was born on 11 May, 1928 in the Rural Municipality of Stuartburn to Metro and Helen Franko and was one of two children.

In 1948 she married Paul Wepruk and they took up residency in Deerlock, Ontario. In 1954 they moved their family to Black Hawk where they operated the Black Hawk General Store. During their time here, she was the Post Master of the Post Office located in their store, a job which she enjoyed very much. In 1980 they became co-owners of Walleye Trailer Park. Upon selling the trailer park they built a new home in the Municipality of Alberton, a home which she loved and took great pride in until dementia forced her to be placed in Rainycrest Home for the Aged.

Alice loved to garden and had a very productive vegetable garden and numerous flower beds. Her favorite flowers to grow were petunias and peonies and homemade Ukrainian pickles were her specialty. When you bit into one you just knew she loved to use lots of garlic.

Alice is survived by her husband Paul of 73 years, her daughter Judy and son Murray (Shelley).

She is also survived by her grandchildren Todd, Stacey, Shane (Cynthia) & Tara (Tim). She is also survived by her great grandchildren Olivia, Ava, Aidan and Brie-Lynn.

She was pre-deceased by her parents, siblings John (Mary)Franko and Amil Alexiuk and son-in-law Brian Wallin.

Cremation has taken place with funeral service will be held at Northridge Funeral Home on Saturday, 10 July, 2021.

Due to COVID restrictions, service will by invitation only. Internment will be held for immediate family only at Riverview Cemetery following service.

Donations can be made to Rainycrest Auxiliary in Fort Frances if you so desire.
