Obituary for Adam Troy Parks
Adam Troy Parks, Troy as we called him passed away at his residence at Front Street Manor in Fort Frances, Ontario at age 55. He graduated Fort Frances High School with honors and he had great plans with computer analyst goals at Seneca College in Toronto.
His plans were interrupted when mental health issues arose, which led to trying to balance the mind with alcohol. This was a road to addiction and trouble before finally being diagnosed with schizophrenia. Life filled with medication that took a person over was the result and a long struggle ensued, trying for a balance to feel good in body and mind. Life is very hard trying to survive on government subsidy, and even with subsidized housing included. Never enough income to care for yourself, worse if you have any vices like tobacco or alcohol. His challenges were many but he was a good and loving son who loved his family. For the longest time his daily phone calls to his mother relieved some of her worries about him and quite often would benefit him in some way. He understood the anxiety in her life and when she also fell into terrible health, he became an understanding anchor in her life. Space does not permit telling of each of his many attempts at employment. He did however write and publish a book titled “Just Some Thoughts”. His last endeavour involved the Boarder Games business and his own plans of getting into the music business, cut short on December 5, 2022.
Troy is survived by his parents Terry and Marylou, sister Terri (Dan) and brother James, his aunts: Pauline, Laura, Holly, Vera, Janice, Corey, Caroline and Cindy, Uncles: Red, David, Blair, Kevin, John, Mike and Guy and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was especially fond of his nieces and nephews, even more so when the great ones started arriving.
Troy was predeceased by his grandparents Clifford and Amelia Bruyere, James W. Parks, Edna and Step Grandpa Jim Falconer, aunts: Alice, Tina, Sharon and Judy, uncles: James Keith, Glen, Faron, Greg, Russ, Joseph (who he never got a chance to meet) and Leslie, and several cousins who passed away at far too young ages.
In lieu of flowers, donations by cheque to The Canadian Mental Health (Fort Frances Branch) c/o Northridge Funeral Home Ltd., Box 89, Emo, ON P0W 1E0, would be appreciated.
A small gathering of family to view him was arranged at Northridge on Friday December 9, 2022.
A springtime interment of his ashes at Couchiching Cemetery alongside his grandparents is planned.
